Asthma Attack Remedy

If you do a search on the internet, you can find numerous "remedies" for just about any medical condition. However, whether or not any of these remedies actually work is another story. Since taking conventional medication for your asthma can be very expensive, not to mention have many side effects, it is not uncommon to want to find an asthma attack remedy to use when your symptoms start to flare-up.

One home remedy that some people have found to be helpful in reducing asthma symptoms is to drink something hot, such as tea, coffee, or water. This can be effective in alleviating asthma symptoms by warming up your airways. However, if you are experience a sudden, serious asthma attack, it may not be sufficient in reducing your symptoms.
A popular home remedy that is working on the same principle as drinking something hot, is to warm your airways by creating warm moist air. This can be done fairly quickly and easily by going into your bathroom and turning on the shower at a very hot temperature. As the steam fills the small room it will go into your lungs and may start to alleviate your symptoms. You may just want to sit in the bathroom or actually get into the shower (or bath) while the water is running. Using a humidifier works along these same lines.
A mixture of mustard oil and camphor rubbed on chest during an attack is a natural home remedy that has proven effective for some people with asthma. It reportedly works by loosening the mucus that has accumulated in the airways.
Holding a jar of honey under the nose may help bring breathing back to normal after a few minutes during an asthma attack. It is believed the aroma from the honey is what is beneficial. Also, drinking a mixture of a teaspoon of honey in water three times a day has been helpful for some asthma patients.
For some asthmatics, inhaling steam from a combination of caraway seeds and boiling water has been effective in reducing asthma symptoms. Another asthma attack remedy involves the daily consumption of a tea made with mullien and sage.
